Fabulous Shirtings from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! I have more of Christy's shirtings quilts to show off this week.  I absolutely love this first one with its flag-ish pattern.

Linda quilted this one on her long arm and did a wonderful job.  Up close the blocks don't align perfectly, but I think it adds to the overall rustic-ness.

Next, this zigzag quilt which reminds me of Charlie Brown.

This one was also quilted by Linda and looks wonderfully cozy.  (I apologize for the crappy indoor pictures. I needed to photograph them so I could take them to the hospital, and the weather ...

Beth, Holly, Linda from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! Sorry I missed last week, I took a trip to Santa Fe. I've got some great quilts to show you this week. This first one is a pattern called "Squared Up" by Cotton and Joy in Northcott Stonehenge fabrics. Beth made the top and Linda quilted it.

It's a lovely simple pattern, but so striking!

Next another top by by Beth, in much more her usual color scheme. This one's smaller so I quilted it on my midarm.

Next, Holly made two tops in the GE Quilts "Stella" pattern with beautiful batik fabrics.

I ...

Linda's Quilts from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! It's still cold here so fortunately I have plenty of warm quilts.  All of these came finished from volunteer long-arm quilter Linda.

First up are these colorwash pinwheels. Such an interesting choice to use a bold print for the background instead of a neutral! It would never occur to me to do that, but it works great.

Next up, a scrappy weave quilt in one of my favorite color combos: blue and white.

Don't be surprised if you see this in a block drive soon, it's a very simple but effective design.

And lastly ...

Ginny & Linda from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! I hope you are warm and your New Year is off to a good start.

These quilts were all tops made and sent in by Ginny and quilted by Linda, starting with this patriotic/military quilt. Linda quilted it with stars and it has the perfect backing and binding. Patriotic quilts are always some of our most appreciated.

Next up a pretty pinwheel quilt. Looks like a jelly roll pattern, lovely batik fabrics. I really like how she used the corner trimmings to make the HSTs in the corners.

Linda did some loopy feathers to complement the ...

Mod Mosaic Block Drive Finish from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, Quilters! It's the first block drive finish since we started back up. These three quilts are from the Mod Mosaic block drive we did in Jan-March this year.

I sent all the blocks we got in to Linda and she assembled and quilted them. I actually love how these came out. They look better in person than they do in the photos.

There were enough blocks to make three quilts. They are just over 60" square with the borders added.

See if anyone can spot how we laid them out. I'll give you a little hint ...

Diane's Tops from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! I've got three quilts to show this week that were all tops made by Diane.

These first two were quilted by Linda on her long arm. I thought the panto on this first one matched the fabrics in the top particularly well.

This is a really cool pattern. I didn't take a closer look while I had it in my hands, but I suspect it's assembled on point.

Next up, batik butterflies! I love their little appliqued antennas.

And lastly, this applique wreath sampler.  I really like how the maroon/green fabrics get darker ...

Friday Finishes from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! Got some good quilts to show you this week. This beauty is a top made by Christine and quilted by Linda.

The pattern is "String Theory" by Sharon Tucker of Grass Roots Quilt Studio. Christine found the perfect backing and binding to send with it.

This next top also came from Christine and was sent out to Sundance Quilting to be finished.

Sundance did this pretty feathered Baptist fan design that really lets this scrap quilt shine.

Next up, two quilts that were quilted by my old circle-mate from do. Good Stitches, Jenny!

This bright quilt was ...

Yet More Tall 9s from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! There are seven more Tall 9s quilts in this post, all quilted by Linda, from the Sept 2021 block drive

We are getting close to the end of the quilts from this drive. I believe with this post we're are 41 finished so far.

This drive has been my kryptonite over the past three years. Every time I think I've gotten all the blocks and tops sent off to quilters and done I find more! I found three more tops just last month.

But, now I think, as best I can tell, when these last ...

Quilters' quilts from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! This week I have a few quilts to show that were made and sent in by our dedicated long-arm quilters.

Linda made these first two and sent them in with a return delivery of tops she quilted for us.  I love the pieced backing and the beautiful fabrics.

This quilt, also by Linda, couldn't be more different. From super coordinated and simple to a crazy scrap buster!

Linda has a computerized long-arm machine and I always enjoy seeing what new quilting designs she wants to try out.

Just come close ups of the beautiful texture.

Scrap Bin Geese Wrap Up! from Kat & Cat Quilts

At long last we have the wrap up of the Sept/Oct 2022 block drive with Scrap Bin Geese blocks! This was the last block drive before we went on our hiatus. CiL's wonderful volunteer quilters have been working very hard to get us caught up.  Linda assembled and quilted the first quilt, photographed on the swing.

Pam did the assembly and quilting on this quilt. There were 6 quilts from this drive in total and you can see the others here and here.  This was based on a quilt my do. Good Stitches circle did a long time ...

Jocelyn's Tops from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! This weekend I have several quilt tops that were sent in by Jocelyn and finished by a few different quilters. Pam did the quilting on this absolutely massive card trick quilt. This photo really doesn't do justice to the size of it!

Next Dee quilted this very pretty, soft, flowery pink quilt. It's a little bit hard to make out the quilting pattern, but maybe you can see it in the photo below. It's a large flower motif with leaves.

The rest of these were quilted by Linda, starting with the small masculine quilt ...

String Block Quilts, 2 Years On from Kat & Cat Quilts

At long last, I think all the quilts from the Jan/Fab 2022 string blocks are done! This isn't the wrap up post, but it should be the second to last batch.

I noticed this little embroidered dragonfly hiding on one of the blocks. Little surprises like that are the best part of scrappy blocks!

All of the quilts in this post were finished by Linda on her long arm. These string blocks would never have gotten done without Linda's help!

I have news which I know many of you have been eagerly ...

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year from Kat & Cat Quilts

I love this time of the year! I love the lights and the music and the cooler weather, the only problem is it goes by so fast!

All of the quilts in this post were made my one of CiL's faithful long-armers, Linda.

Linda's been working hard the past few years helping to assemble and quilt our block drives, but she also makes her own quilts and sometimes donates them.

Linda has a great eye for color and pattern and she is a busy bee! She's one of the folks who keeps CiL afloat.

Our community has ...

Pretty Quilt and Pretty Cats from Kat & Cat Quilts

Often when Linda returns a box of block-drive quilts she has long-armed she will include at least one of her own quilts. I especially loved the creative quilting on this one.

This border is awesome, with the curves intersecting the straight lines and the tiny feathers in the green border.

Linda does all this with programming on a computerized machine. It's not the same as free motion but still very impressive to me.

I wanted to remind everyone that Cynthia has a block drive going right now with bright kids blocks. I am thinking that CiL might have a ...

String Quilts 11-15 from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday, Quilters! This week I have five more string quilts to show off. These were sent in during the Jan 2022 string quilt drive.  All 5 of these were donated as completed tops and Linda quilted them beautifully on her long arm.

These first 2 quilts with the black sashing were sent in by Beth T. and Linda used awesome custom quilting on them.

The quilts are complimentary but beautifully different. The second quilt with the white thread has different quilted pantos in each string square.

I couldn't get pictures of everything, but I tried to get some ...

Wishing for Fall from Kat & Cat Quilts

Wishing for Fall and admiring these fall-colored quilts! There were a couple of mornings this past week when I went out the door for work that it actually felt cool.

These tops were made by Gail and kitted up with complimentary backings and bindings to make them quick to finish. These are from the Tall 9s block drive.

Linda took it from there and did a lovely job with coordinating FMQ patterns on her long arm.

Gail actually lives very near me, and she's contributed finished tops to MANY of CiL's drives. She has meticulous piecing and great ...

With Love, To Long-armers from Kat & Cat Quilts

Another Friday, some more finishes! Courtesy of CiL's devoted long arm quilters.

These were all assembled from blocks donated during the Jan 2022 block drive. The first 5 were assembled and quilted by Linda. I got some close ups to show off the cool pantos she used.

I'm really excited because I met a local long-armer last week who wants to help us out! After talking about things she asked me to bring her the rest of the string tops I have on hand!

It was really a fortuitous meeting. After getting my haircut I decided to visit ...

Linda & Wendy from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy weekend quilters! I've got a few pretty quilts to share from CiL's wonderful longer-armers. Linda sent in this beautiful batik quilt with one of her recent boxes of block drive quilts.

I love the colors and textures on this quilt; the quilting suits it perfectly.

Wendy sent in this quilt that shows off the scrappy fabrics with some of the tops she longarmed for us.

I made a somewhat urgent quilt delivery to our main hospital this week. They got down to only one quilt left, which was a first! We're still doing well on our ...

Assorted Block Drive Quilts from Kat & Cat Quilts

Happy Friday quilters! This weekend I have quilts from Linda to show you. Linda has been such a busy worker bee for the past couple years helping to finish CiL quilts.

This geese quilt was Linda's contribution to the Sept/Oct 2022 drive, she made this one entirely herself. I really like this quilting design with the loops.

This quilt is from the 2021 red, white, and blue stars drive. I recognize a lot of Mina's fabrics in there.

Linda assembled and quilted the blocks. I know that quite a few of you helped Cynthia with her red ...

Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Quilting from Kat & Cat Quilts

Hello quilters and happy Friday! Happy Spring! My parents are tilling their garden and I've been weed-eating around my house and cutting down last year's lantana.

Linda recently sent back a batch of quilted Tall 9s quilts along with 2 of her own quilts. This batik with the HSTs and the cool square-swirl quilting is my favorite.

I thought the star FMQ on this modern stars quilt was really cool.

I'm doing ok, not what I'd consider normal but better than I was doing earlier in the year.  I think the change in the weather helps ...
